Today we’ll walk you through the steps on how to best test your WordPress site for compatibility before updating PHP versions. Many of you shouldn’t experience any downtime and there will be little work required.


For others, additional testing, troubleshooting, and even hiring a WordPress developer to make things compatible might be required.


Changing the PHP version

Hosting servers support multiple versions of PHP. To change the PHP version used for your account, follow these steps:

1. Log in to cPanel

2. In the SOFTWARE section of the cPanel home screen, click Select PHP Version:

3. cPanel displays the current PHP version. To change the PHP version, in the Current PHP Version list box, select the version that you want to use. The new PHP version takes effect immediately.
